I’m originally from Belfast and studied Primary Education in Aberdeen. I taught in Edinburgh for four years before moving to Hong Kong, where I specialised in additional support needs at an International school for two years. Continuing my passion for inclusion and well-being, I have moved back to Scotland and am now the Principal Teacher at The Cuiken Nest.

I have been a teacher since 2018, working in the Scottish Borders before moving to Cuiken. I first worked as the Enhanced Class Teacher, supporting learners across our school before joining the Cuiken Nest this year. I am passionate about nurture and enjoy creating a fun, inclusive and engaging learning environment where children can grow and learn. In my spare time I love going to pilates and spin classes, baking and spending time with my friends and family.  

With over two decades of experience, I have had the privilege of teaching in Africa, the Middle East and Scotland. Originally hailing from Zimbabwe, I believe that education, much like the wildlife I admire, should inspire wonder, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning. Beyond the classroom, I'm an avid creator with a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, especially giraffes and elephants.

I have been a Learning Assistant in the Cuiken Nest for the past 3 years. I really enjoy working with all of the children to ensure they all settle well, enjoy school and have fun! I particularly enjoy outdoor learning and cooking.

Outside of school I enjoy running and walking as well as exploring new places in the holidays.

Hi, my name is Jodie Burke and I have worked in Cuiken Primary School as a learning assistant for children with complex needs since March this year. My favourite thing about my job is supporting our children and working with such amazing staff who inspire me to be better. Outside of school I love spending time with my mum taking the dog long walks.  

I have been a class teacher for 30 years and in Cuiken Nest for the past 5 years. I love my job and watching the children grow and learn and working alongside our parents too. At home I like cooking for my family and friends and love to travel with my boys.
