Class Teachers
Miss Rebecca Maltby
I have been teaching at Cuiken since March 2024 and have loved becoming a part of the welcoming school community. Previously I've taught in Edinburgh and East Lothian. When I'm not at school I love walking, baking and am trying to become a bit better at Pilates.
Miss Lynsey Duncan
I have been a teacher at Cuiken Primary School for 6 years and have loved every minute so far. I am passionate about teaching foreign languages and music. You can often find me playing piano for special events, such as the Hunter and Lass visit and Christmas singalongs. When I'm not teaching my lovely class, I like spending time at the beach with my dog.
Mrs Christy Whatford
Hi! My name is Christy Whatford and I have been a teacher at Cuiken Primary since 2020. Prior to joining the Cuiken family I taught in other Midlothian schools and in many schools in Canada where I lived for 11 years. When I am not being a teacher I am a proud Mum to our three wonderful daughters and enjoy spending time with them, my husband and our extended family.
Mrs Deborah Hutton
I have been teaching at Cuiken for four years and have a passion for learning through play, music and drama! I studied at the university of Aberdeen and currently live in Edinburgh with my husband, Andy. When I'm not at school, I'm usually hill walking, catching up with friends and family or playing board games!
Mrs Laura Denson
I love to teach art and making learning fun and engaging through drama, active maths and spelling activities, and use of digital technology. Out of school I like spending time with my family and friends and love travelling (before children). I hope to one day travel more and visit South Asia and experience their culture!
Miss Dominque Pelosi
I have been a teacher at Cuiken Primary since my probationer year in 2017! I love the community of the Cuiken family and enjoy watching the children go through their years of primary school. I have enjoyed working with various stages and gaining experience of using interventions and working with small groups as part of a focus throughout the school. When I’m not in the classroom I enjoy spending time with my little girl, my family and friends.
Mrs Heather Galbucci
Miss Sarah Millar
I have been a teacher at Cuiken Primary School since I graduated from Glasgow University in 2016. I am passionate about creative learning and teaching, health and wellbeing, nurture, digital learning and making valuable links with the wider community. I am currently the school numeracy lead. I am also a mum to two children, an adventure lover and obsessed by all things Halloween and Christmas (oops!).
Mrs Lesley Mason
Hello, I am Lesley Mason. I have been teaching at Cuiken Primary since 2012. I am a mother to three girls who all attended Cuiken Primary School so I have been associated with the school since 2001. I am the STEM lead in school and have been for a number of years. I enjoy running the Glee Club with Miss Duncan.
Miss Isla Emsley
I have been a teacher here at Cuiken since my graduation from the University of Aberdeen in 2020. I have a passion for improving digital literacy and have acted as the school's digital lead for several years. When I'm not teaching the wonderful children at Cuiken I am most likely spending my time with my two beloved Golden Retrievers!
Mr Brodie Abbott
My name is Brodie Abbott and I have been at Cuiken Primary School for just over ten years. During my time at Cuiken I have enjoyed several different roles as a class teacher and as an acting principal teacher. This session I have two roles; one as class teacher of P6b and the other as P. E. teacher across the school for P1-P7.
Mrs Claire Maguire (Cuiken Nest)
I have been a class teacher for 30 years and in Cuiken Nest for the past 5 years. I love my job and watching the children grow and learn and working alongside our parents too. At home I like cooking for my family and friends and love to travel with my boys.
Ms Manuela Wilson (Cuiken Nest)
My name is Manuela Wilson. I have been part of the Cuiken Family for almost 7 years and am based in The Nest. Outside of school I love going for outdoor adventures with my child as well as caring for my mini zoo at home. I have quite a few pets... (rabbits, gecko, cat, and a fish pond).
Mrs Charlene Murray (Cuiken Nest)
With over two decades of experience, I have had the privilege of teaching in Africa, the Middle East and Scotland. Originally hailing from Zimbabwe, I believe that education, much like the wildlife I admire, should inspire wonder, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning. Beyond the classroom, I'm an avid creator with a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, especially giraffes and elephants.
